The Name
Behind the name Maximus Indicus — Pradeep is originally from Southern Karnataka (specifically Bengaluru), where his ancestors have lived for centuries. The southern districts of Karnataka are home to the Indian Elephant (Elephas Maximus Indicus). Elephants are his favorite animal. The domain name is a domain hack using the .us TLD. Pradeep lives in the United States, hence the usindic (US Indic). A multi level pun, word-play, and history — all the things Pradeep loves.
The Why
( A personal note)
I started this blog to write for myself. This is a personal blog, though it is not intended to be a private blog. I will share things from my personal perspective. This is aimed at an audience of one — me.
This is for the long term. I want to do this for a long time, and have an opportunity to see how my writing, my interests, and my views evolve over time.
I’m inspired by many bloggers who have been at it for many years, some even decades. A more recent (or ancient?) inspiration is The Pillow Book of Sei Shonagon (transl. Ivan Morris).
